Faculty Development Plan

In the next five years and the following years, FATETA will be faced with various challenges of changing external and internal factors. External changes are indicated by the situation and conditions of the world entering the VUCA era, namely (1) an environment that changes rapidly and is volatile (volatile), (2) the existence of uncertainty where it is more difficult to predict what will happen in the future (uncertainty), (3) more complex challenges that are influenced by many interrelated factors (complexity), and (4) ambiguity of an event and its chain of consequences (ambiguity).

This requires an internal adjustment (adaptation), both from lecturers, education staff and students in various academic and non-academic activities, in accordance with the demands of the changes that occur. This change will also have implications for changes in how faculties and departments are managed. Faculties and departments act as agents of change that can be a driving force for changes in the entire academic community to a better direction so that the demands for changes that occur can be met.

As a faculty based on engineering and technology, FATETA is also faced with external changes related to the ongoing Industrial Revolution (RI) 4.0. The era of RI 4.0 was marked by a leap of innovation in the world of information and telecommunications which was implemented into the manufacturing industry. RI 4.0 has other names that describe its characteristics, namely the Internet of Things (IoT), Manufacturing 4.0, and Smart Manufacturing, which show the increasingly strong use of smarter machines with the ability to manage themselves virtually, discuss with humans (Human Machine Interface or Human Machine Interface). HMI), and carry out the production process without the need for a touch of labor. In other words, FATETA graduates are faced with disruptive changes in the world of work due to technological developments, namely the disappearance of existing job opportunities which have been shifted by smart technology. However, the RI era can also create new job opportunities that require different competencies and skill sets.
